Name:Enclosure within Headland Warren, North Bovey

Summary

An isolated enclosure of 0.05ha on the eastern side of the upper West Webburn river, 200m north of Headland Warren house. The walls are constructed from moorstone in a rough drystone style and are now partly collapsed. There is no visible entrance. Possibly associated with trapping and harvesting rabbits at the warren which is documented between 1790 and about 1920.

(24/07/2001) Centred SX 6936 8124. An isolated enclosure (F) of 0.05ha on the eastern side of the upper West Webburn river, 200m north of Headland Warren house. The walls are constructed from moorstone in a rough drystone style and are now partly collapsed. There is no visible entrance. Possibly associated with trapping and harvesting rabbits at Headland Warren (SX 68 SE 339) which is documented between 1790 and about 1920. Depicted on OS 25-inch 1st edition 1885 and all subsequent editions.
