A rectilinear pit up to circa 95 by 30 metres in size was visible as an earthwork on aerial photograph of 1982 and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. The rectilinear nature of the pit, particularly on the more clearly defined eastern part, incorporating a possible entrance from the road immediately to the south, might also support the interpretation that they are the remains of a former building plot.
The visible earthworks did not correspond with any pit features depicted in this location on the available 19th century mapping. This supports the interpretation that the earthworks had passed out of use prior to the mid-to-late 19th century.
