Full description
Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.
The visible earthworks corresponded with a copse depicted in this location. Disused extractive pits were frequently reused as woodland or orchards.

A roughly oval pit circa 36 by 24 metres in size was visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1947 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014.
The visible earthwork corresponded with a copse depicted in this location on the Tithe Map for Feniton but not later 19th century mapping available to the survey. This supports the interpretation that the extractive pit had passed out of use prior to the mid-to-late 19th century.
