A former roughly oval extractive circa 55 metres across was visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1980s, digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014 and digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2006.
The visible earthworks did not correspond with any pit features depicted on the 19th century mapping available to the survey. This supports the interpretation that the extractive pit had passed out of use prior to the mid-to-late 19th century.
