The possible water channel is visible as an earthwork ditch.

A possible 19th century water channel is visible as an earthwork ditch on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, at Dunkeswell. The earthwork ditch is northeast to southwest aligned and parallel to the steep southeast facing slopes. It curves gently at its southwest extent where it cuts into earthworks of a medieval enclosure (MDV1525). The water channel may form the remnants of a catch meadow system.
