Bluesky International, 2016, LiDAR DTM data (0.5m resolution) Blackdown Hills and East Devon AONBs: 3 transects, LIDAR ST1008 Bluesky International DTM 27-JUN-2016 (Cartographic). SDV359714.

The possible extraction pits are visible as earthwork pits.

Possible intercutting extraction pits of post-medieval to 19th century date are visible as earthwork pits on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, within Newcombe Errish Plantation. The irregular shaped earthworks measure approximately 116m in length by 45m in width and are located in an area dominated by post-medieval to 20th century whetstone mines, to the immediate west. The earthworks are obscured by tree cover and so were not visible on aerial photographs or other digital images made available to the survey.
