Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2016-2018, The Blackdown Hills AONB and East Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV359463.

A cropmark of a linear bank nearly 2 metres wide and 50 metres long was visible on aerial photographs of 1966 to the south-west of Higher Tale, Payhembury parish.
The visible cropmark did not correspond to the location of any field boundary depicted on the 19th century mapping available to the survey, although it was broadly in keeping with the surrounding field pattern. It has been interpreted as the possible remains of a former field boundary probably of post-medieval origin that was removed prior to the early 19th century.
