Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2016-2018, The Blackdown Hills AONB and East Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV359463.

A linear ditch up to 4 metres wide and nearly 40 metres long was visible as an earthwork on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014 as a ditch earthwork to the west of Higher Tale Farm, Payhembury parish.
The visible cropmark did not correspond to the location of any field boundary depicted on the 19th century mapping available to the survey, although it was broadly in keeping with the surrounding field pattern. It has been interpreted as the possible remains of a former field boundary probably of post-medieval origin that was removed prior to the early 19th century.
