An earthwork pit is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1947. It broadly corresponds to the location of an irregular plot of land that is named ‘Pit Orchard’ on the Tithe apportionment and depicted with orchard trees on the late-19th century OS map. It is interpreted as a post-medieval extractive pit that became disused by the mid-19th century and reused as an orchard. The area has since been landscaped.
