A possible post-medieval to 19th century extraction pit is visible as an earthwork pit, with associated earthwork mounds on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the northwest of Birch Oak Farm. The irregular shaped earthwork measures approximately 55m in length by 35m in width and is located at the base of a combe, on the north side of a stream. The earthwork pit was initially thought to be the result of natural erosion, although two earthwork mounds located either side of the pit, in particular the western of the two, would appear to represent spoil heaps from such extractive workings. The earthworks are not visible on aerial photographs or other digital images owing to tree cover here.
