The earthwork is interpreted as the remains of a former field boundary. It falls within an enclosure pattern characterised as being of post-medieval origin but does not correspond with any boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map for Stockland and the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map. It is therefore interpreted as a field boundary of post-medieval origin that was removed prior to the 1840s
