Summary

A series of linear and curvilinear cropmark ditches are visible to the northwest of Hillside Farm, Bratton Clovelly, on aerial photographs taken in 1952. They have been interpreted as possible former medieval field boundaries.

A series of single ditch linear features are visible on aerial photographs (p1). The longest of them measures 312m E-W, and all have small breaks in their length. It is possible that these features are the remains of field boundaries; they appear to align with extant boundaries marked on OS 1:10000 mapping. The features are sited within an area described as medieval enclosures based on strip fields in the Historic Landscape Characterisation for Devon. They have been digitally plotted as part of the National Mapping Programme.
