Summary

A group of small rectangular buildings built within a series of cuts into the hillslope are recorded on historic Ordnance Survey maps. Probably associated with the nearby coastguard station or Bovisand Practice Battery as a flagstaff is recorded on the circa 1880 Ordnance Survey map. The buildings are no longer extant but the cuts for them are recorded on current Ordnance Survey mapping.

Group of three buildings shown adjacent to a flag pole.


Royal Air Force, 1946, RAF/CPE/UK/1890, DCC RAF/CPE/UK/1890 FS 2127-2128 10-DEC-1946 (Aerial Photograph). SDV169268.

Two levelled rectilinear pale areas and a rectilinear extant structure is visible. Possibly part of Bovisand Practice Battery (MDV51600).

One of the buildings depicted on the late-19th century maps was still extant in 1946, but no upstanding structural remains now survive.
