Summary

Cropmarks of a possible post-medieval to 19th century trackway are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1984, to the north of The Barton, North Tawton.

The location of the transcriptions is correct, although the grid reference for PRN167028 is incorrect and should be further to the north at c.SX66000091.

Two linear features are visible as single ditches on aerial photos (p1). One runs SW-NE across the south edge of a field, the other runs NW-SE from the north edge of the same field. It is likely that both features are the remains of trackways or footpaths used to travel between North Tawton, the Newland Corn Mill and the towpath on the River Taw. They have been digitally plotted as part of the National Mapping Programme.
