Banked field system of uncertain origin, visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (p1-3) on the ridge-top to the south-east of Challice's Plantation. The site was digitally plotted during the National Mapping Programme and may relate to the rectangular earthwork described in DCC CIN no: 12572 (SS60NE/17). The features are sited within an area described as post medieval enclosures with medieval elements in the Historic Landscape Characterisation for Devon. These are enclosures probably based on medieval fields but with straight sided field boundaries suggesting substantial reorganisation in the post medieval period.
