Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

Depicted on the Tithe Map as one of the range of buildings that occupies the triangular area of land at the western end of Church Street. Plots 3018-19, 3021, 3022, 3024-26; 'Dwelling house'.

SX697602 9-14 Wellington Square
This area of Brent contains several ranges of cottages which appear to be early 19th century in date. 5-14 Wellington Square and 5-8 Prospect Place are rendered on stone, and variously colour-washed.
The chimneys are of fairly small size and rendered, the windows six-paned sash type. Numbers 9 and 10 have porches, stone built and rendered.
Tithe Map plots 3018-19 (9-10 Wellington Square), 3021, 3022, 3024-26 (11-14 Wellington Square); all listed as ‘Dwelling House’.

Houses are depicted on the modern mapping. Nos. 9-10 are set back from the road, close to the range 5-8 Wellington Square, that lie to the south. Nos. 11-14 are formed by a block parallel to the street, with two fronting onto it (Nos. 13-14); the other two (Nos. 11-12) adjoining at right angles to the south.
