Dark cropmarks of a levelled linear ditch are visible on oblique aerial photographs taken in 1984, to the south of Higher Beara Cross, Staverton. The linear feature is east to west aligned and measures approximately 240m in length by up to 12m in width. Its origin is largely uncertain. Its alignment does not respect the field patterns shown on the available historic maps so likely pre-dates the mid-19th century. It is possibly a former trackway of pre-enclosure date, connecting Green Lane to the west to an unnamed road to the east.
