A dark double rectilinear cropmark is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1950. The cropmarks appear to have formed over the south-east corner of a rectilinear or square double ditched enclosure, estimated as 130 metres in maximum extent with the inner circuit of at least 45 metres across. The outer circuit is defined by a narrower cropmark approximately 2.5 metres wide whilst the inner circuit is wider at circa 5 metres. Superficially it appears to be similar in form to the Roman Signal Station at Stoke Hill, Exeter, but its siting at the head of a combe downslope from higher ground doesn’t support this categorisation, and interpretation remains tentative, particularly since cropmarks are visible only on a single run of aerial photographs.
