Full description

South West Heritage Trust, 1838-1848, Digitised Tithe Maps and Transcribed Apportionments (Cartographic). SDV359954.

Tithe apportionment shows 1 Dock Cottages was at the time a barn, whilst the other three cottages are listed as houses.

Listed as Dock Cottages on map, pump shown in front of 1 Dock Cottages.

Advertiser, 1991, Lift-off for Weare Giffard Flood Cottages (Article in Serial). SDV260833.

National Rivers Authority raised houses at Weare Giffard. Houses raised by approximately 1.5 metres. To lift the cottages a slab of reinforced concrete was placed at floor level. Over 450 tonnes of concrete and 60 tonnes of steel were used at the six cottages. Two of the cottages were Yeo Cottages, the other four were at Dock Cottages.
