Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (AI&M) (Interpretation). SDV361305.

Earthworks of banks and ditches, circa 5m in width, are visible on oblique aerial photographs taken in 1989 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, off Shute Lane, Denbury and Torbryan. The linear earthworks are northeast to southwest and northwest to southeast aligned, with that to the far northeast possibly defining part of a small rectilinear enclosure, circa 30m in length. They are broadly in keeping with the historic field pattern depicted in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map which is predominantly characterised as medieval enclosures based on strip fields and post-medieval enclosures, although they do not correspond with any linear features on this map, or on subsequent available historic maps. They are therefore interpreted as possible relict field boundaries of medieval or post-medieval date which had passed out of use by the mid-19th century.
