Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (Interpretation). SDV361305.

A linear hollow circa 190m long and 13m wide is visible on aerial photographs of 1946 and digital elevation data derived photogrammetrically from APGB Aerial Photography imagery of 2016 as an earthwork on the north-facing slopes above the Kate Brook, Chudleigh. The visible earthworks do not correspond with any features depicted on the Tithe map for Chudleigh, and therefore passed out of use prior to the 1840s. The visible earthwork abuts Plot 311 on the Chudleigh Tithe Map, listed on the apportionment as kiln and quarry. It is possible that the earthwork is evidence of a former access road associated with the quarry and lime kiln, superseded by the road depicted on the Tithe Map.
