Full description

Narrow sinuous ditches, less than 2m wide and occupying an area of circa 1 hectare, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1964, on the southeast facing combe slopes to the south of Little Holbeam, Ogwell. The channels roughly follow the contours of the combe and are interpreted as the gutters of a catch meadow irrigation system of likely 19th century date, possibly tapping a watercourse located at its west extent. The earthworks are not visible on later available aerial imagery and have possibly since been levelled.
