Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (AI&M) (Interpretation). SDV361305.

Linear banks and a ditch, between 6m to 13m wide, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1976 and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, to the north of South Knighton, Ilsington. The broadly northeast to southwest aligned earthworks are in keeping with the historic field pattern depicted in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map which is characterised as medieval enclosures based on strip fields, although they do not correspond with any linear features on this map, or on later available historic maps. They are therefore interpreted as relict field boundaries of potential medieval date which had passed out of use by the mid-19th century. The southern section of the T-shaped ditch truncates two of the banks and is interpreted as a possible later drainage ditch.
