Full description

South West Heritage Trust, 1838-1848, Digitised Tithe Maps and Transcribed Apportionments (Cartographic). SDV359954.

Group of buildings shown on 19th century Tithe Map. Two main holdings listed:
'Lower Tarr' (to the south) and this holding: 2127 is marked on the Apportionment transcription as 'Higher Parr' (may be a typing error) 'House and garden', owned by Margaret Baring, occupied by William French. Single, rectangular building shown on the map, on same alignment as those to the south.

The late 19th century historic map shows this as a group of buildings to the north of Lower Torr, the house shown on the Tithe Map in holding 2129 now appears to be part of this northern farmstead (not separately labelled on this map).

Lower Tor is first mentioned in 1249 in the assizes as 'La Torre' and as 'Torr' in 1410.
