Linear and curvilinear banks are visible as slight earthworks on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 on the north and north-east facing slopes of Ugbrooke Park, south east of Ugbrooke House, Chudleigh.
The banks are approximately 10m wide, and up to 380m long, forming a roughly T-shaped earthwork. The earthworks do not correspond with any boundaries depicted on the 19th century maps available to the survey and are interpreted as probably the remains of a former field boundaries, possibly of medieval to post-medieval origin that were removed prior to circa 1840, possibly for the creation of Ugrooke Park.
The spur of possible bank, centred on circa SX87857794, is aligned to the north east on a possible ornamental tree belt in Ugbrooke Park, with an avenue to the south-west. The banks do not appear to have any association with former field boundaries of possible medieval date recorded separately to the north-east as MDV123373. This raises the possibility that the earthworks might be evidence of relict parkland features, perhaps further avenues or ornamental walks, of 18th or earlier 19th century date.
