Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (Interpretation). SDV361305.

The wall between the road and Buckfast Abbey is visible on aerial photographs taken between 1930 and 1959, with two inturned entrances at 274057,67441 and 274091,67345. The latter entrance is depicted as a curving structure on the late-19th century OS map, but the former is less regular in shape on the photographs taken in 1930 and appears to have been remodelled in the early-20th century to match the pre-existing entrance. Its gatepiers and pedestrian gateway are also pointed, in contrast to the flat-topped gatepiers of the earlier entrance. Both appear to have been rebuilt and only a portion of the original wall survives.
