Cropmarks of curvilinear banks up to circa 4m wide and up to circa 240m long are visible on aerial photographs of 1946, 1984 and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 on the north-west facing slopes north of Gappah Lane. The visible earthworks do not correspond with any permanent boundaries depicted on the 19th century maps available to the survey but do partly follow the Kingsteignton and Chudleigh parish boundary, which is delineated by a fence on the OS 1880s First Edition 25inch map.
The cropmarks are interpreted as evidence of a former field boundaries of probable medieval origin that were removed prior to circa 1840.
