A roughly oval pit up to circa 24m across is visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 as an earthwork on the east facing slopes east of Olchard, Ideford. The visible earthwork does not correspond with any pit depicted on the 19th century maps available to the survey but does corresponds with a dashed area outlined on the Tithe Map for Ideford in plot 137, listed as Quarry Close. The pit is interpreted as a possible sandstone quarry of medieval to early 19th-century date that had passed out of use by circa 1840.
