A shallow earthwork hollow and cropmark of a curvilinear ditch circa 15 to 30m wide and 230 long is visible on aerial photographs of 1946 and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 on the south-west facing slopes south-east of Haldon Lane, Ideford.
The visible earthwork and cropmarks do not correspond with any features depicted on the 19th century maps available to the survey but do appear to form a north-eastern extension to Mouseberry Lane, depicted to the south. The southern extent of Mouseberry Lane appears to follow a natural shallow combe, and it is possible the features recorded here are also natural in origin, but the earthwork and cropmarks are interpreted as a possible former north-eastern extension of Mouseberry Lane that was removed prior to circa 1840.
