A roughly circular pit is visible on aerial photographs of 1946 and digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2013 as an earthwork up to 34m across, circa 130m to the south of Westhayes Farm, Luton, Bishopsteignton.
The earthwork does not correspond with any pit depicted on the 19th century maps available to the survey and is interpreted as a former quarry or extractive pit, probably a limestone pit for liming or lime burning, of probable post-medieval to early 19th century date.
