Parallel earthwork banks, circa 5m wide, are visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, at Lower Bradley Farm, Bovey Tracey. The visible banks are closely spaced and are aligned parallel to the southwest facing slope, within an area of circa 0.30 hectares. The banks do not coincide with any linear features shown in this location on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map of the late 19th century, or on later available historic maps. They are interpreted as possible post-medieval or 19th century tree planting banks of a former orchard which had passed out of use by the late 19th century, the fruit trees being established on the earthworks for increased soil depth and improved drainage. Orchards shown within adjacent land parcels to the east on the First Edition OS map adds some support to this interpretation. The earthworks are obscured by tree cover on aerial photographs taken from 1946 onwards, and what is now part of Bradley Ponds nature reserve.
