An irregularly shaped pit is visible.

An irregularly shaped pit, circa 30m long by 11m wide, is visible as an earthwork on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, within Down Plantation, Hennock. The visible earthwork does not correspond with any pit features depicted in this location on the available 19th century mapping. The earthwork is interpreted as a post-medieval or early 19th century extractive pit. It is not visible on other available aerial imagery owing to thick tree cover of Down Plantation.
