Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (AI&M) (Interpretation). SDV361305.

A linear earthwork ditch, circa 6m wide and northeast to southwest aligned and terraced into the steep northwest slope, is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946. It partly corresponds with a dotted-line feature shown in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map and is in keeping with the historic field pattern depicted in this location which is characterised as Barton fields. It is therefore interpreted as a relict medieval or post-medieval field boundary which had evidently fallen out of use by the mid-19th century. The earthwork had been levelled following residential development of the area visible on aerial imagery taken between 1999-2000.
