Building is depicted on the Tithe Map; part of plot 75 ('House, courtlage etc.'), part of the Murchington Swines Chagford and South Coombe estate. Owned by William Sawdye, occupied by Richard Gidley. Building (possible dwelling?) is shown as a roughly L-shaped structure on an almost east-west alignment, with central porch structure on the southern face. Associated with another building close by; possible barn?

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

The late 19th century historic map shows the building largely unaltered, but there is the indication of a horse engine house on the western face of the wing extending southwards at the west end of the main building (this is also shown on the early 20th century Ordnance Survey mapping, but not on later versions).

Dartmoor National Park Authority, 2011, Murchington Conservation Area Character Appraisal, 16 (Report - Assessment). SDV359512.

Marked as historic building with modern alterations.

Ordnance Survey, 2019, MasterMap 2019 (Cartographic). SDV362729.

'Foxhole' is depicted on the modern mapping.
