Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (Interpretation). SDV361305.

Nine flat-roofed structures are visible in and around the school building on aerial photographs taken in 1946. Three are located in the east courtyard and three in the west courtyard, two just outside the courtyards (one at each end) and one to the south-west of the school. The structures are rectangular and measure just under 4 by 7 metres, with a small 1 by 2 metre extension at each of the short ends, indicating twin entrances/exits. They are interpreted as Second World War air raid shelters, perhaps intended not just for the school but also the military site in the grounds (MDV125315). Four of the structures appear to have been demolished by 1949 and another between 1959 and 1986, so by 1988 only two remained, located at 290739,65593 and 290601,65591. These appear to have been removed by 1999.
