An irregularly shaped pit, circa 18m long by 16m wide, is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The visible earthwork does not correspond with any pit features depicted in this location on the available 19th century mapping, although an earthwork labelled as ‘Quarry’ is shown to the west on the late 19th century Ordnance Survey First Edition map. The earthwork is therefore interpreted as a post-medieval or early 19th century quarry which had passed out of use by the mid to late 19th century. The quarry possibly truncates an earthwork ditch of a 19th century catch meadow irrigation system (MDV125804).
