Summary

A hut circle of probable Bronze Age date is recorded as a circular earthwork and structure on the lower north-facing slopes of Shaugh Moor. It measures up to 7.9 metres in overall diameter with a level interior 6.2 metres across. The wall comprises a boulder/stone core faced by slabs and boulders up to 0.5 metres high. The position of the entrance is not clear.
The enclosed area is identifiable as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013 and stone settings are visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2016.

(Visited 02/12/1997) SX55716351. A hut circle located on a slight slope. It measures 7.9 metres in overall diameter with a level interior 6.2 metres across. The wall comprises a boulder/stone core faced by slabs and boulders up to 0.5 metres high. The position of the entrance is not clear.

A hut circle of probable Bronze Age date is visible as an earthwork and structure on the lower north-facing slopes of Shaugh Moor.
The enclosed area is identifiable as an earthwork terrace or hollow up to circa 5m across on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013 and stone settings circa 0.5m across are visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2016 defining a roughly circular structure approximately 6m in diameter.
The hut circle might be associated with possible wall defined enclosures immediately to the west.
