Very straight banks circa 4m wide are visible on aerial photographs of 1971 and visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017.
The visible earthworks do not correspond with boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map for Plympton St Mary but are in keeping with the character of the surrounding field pattern.
The earthworks are interpreted as evidence of a post-medieval to early 19th century remodelling of an earlier, probably medieval field system, with many of the boundaries being removed prior to circa 1840.
