Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2019-2020, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 2, Avon Valley to Plymouth (AI&M, formerly NMP) (Interpretation). SDV362982.

Six pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1946 and identifiable as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, as roughly oval earthworks largely between 20 to 30m across.
Three of the visible earthworks correspond with pits or areas of rough ground probably indicative of a pit’s location on the Ordnance Survey 1880s First Edition 25inch map. The remaining three are located under the northern edge of Cann Wood.
This might support the interpretation that the earthworks are the remains of pits, probably small extractive pits, that pre-date the late-19th century.
