Summary

A field system of possible Bronze Age to Iron Age date is visible on aerial photographs of 1946 as predominantly north-east to south-west aligned earthwork banks, on the previously south-west facing slopes to the north-west of Blackalder Tor. The earthwork banks have been destroyed by the expansion of quarries associated with Lee Moor Clay Works.

Linear banks are visible as earthworks.

The earthwork banks have been destroyed by the expansion of quarries associated with Lee Moor Clay Works.

Linear banks up to circa 3m wide and 130m long are visible on aerial photographs of 1946 as north-east to south-west aligned and north-west to south-east earthworks on the south-west facing slopes to the north-west of Blackalder Tor.
The banks appear to define a rectilinear system of relict enclosures or fields that do not have any relationship with the surrounding more irregular field pattern, which is probably of medieval origin.
The earthworks are interpreted as the remains of a field system of probable Bronze Age to Iron Age date. They might be associated with a hut circle visible within the system (MDV2568).
The earthwork banks have been destroyed by the expansion of quarries associated with Lee Moor Clay Works.
