Summary

Former farm building probably dating to the early-mid 19th century. In use as a shippon in 1994 when surveyed, it had a hayloft above. In the rear elevation is incorporated a reused medieval lancet window cut into a single slab of stone. It has a crude trefoil head and a chamfered surround but has never been glazed. Modernised and updated in the late 20th century.

Thorp, J. R. L., 1994, Gratton Farm, Meavy, 24, 36-7, 45-6 (Report - Survey). SDV347822.

Shippon dating to the early-mid 19th century. Built from rubble stone and roofed with corrugated iron, it is a lofted building the same width and axis as the barn (MDV126847) but much lower in height, it has the original roof structure; the oldest surviving on the farm. Hayloft above, in the rear elevation is incorporated a reused medieval lancet window cut into a single slab of stone. It has a crude trefoil head and a chamfered surround but has never been glazed.
