Earthworks of irregularly shaped mounds and pits which occupy an area of circa 0.09 hectares are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946 and visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The earthworks do not correspond with any features in this location on the mid-19th century parish Tithe Map, although earthworks and a trackway which extends form Hele Lane are shown on the late 19th century First Edition Ordnance Survey map. They are interpreted as evidence of extractive workings of possible mid to late 19th century date.
