Summary

Three roughly circular pits, probably bomb craters of Second World War date, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards and visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013, on the lower south-west facing slopes of Shaugh Moor.

Three roughly circular pits 5 to 6m in diameter are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1946 and 1964, aligned roughly north-west to south-east and distributed over approximately 240m of the lower south-west facing slopes of Shaugh Moor.
The pits are interpreted as bomb craters of Second World War date.
The pits are obscured from view by vegetation on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2016 but remain identifiable as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013.
