A roughly circular pit circa 11m in diameter is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1945 on the north-west facing slope north of Tapfield Cross.
The pit is interpreted as a possible bomb crater of Second World War date but might simply be the remains of a small quarry or extractive pit of 19th to early 20th century date.
The pit is not identifiable as an earthwork on more recent images available to the survey. The plot has been subject to boundary change, landscaping and planted as a plantation and the earthwork probably been levelled.
