The visible earthworks correspond with a settlement or farmstead.

Hollows and terraces are visible on aerial photographs of 1945 and visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013 as irregularly shaped earthworks on the south-west facing slopes to the south-west of Bigbury village.
The visible earthworks correspond to the track and building plots of a former settlement or farmstead, potentially of medieval origin, depicted on the Tithe Map for Bigbury.
The settlement is not shown on the Ordnance Survey 25inch First Edition map and was therefore cleared between circa 1840 and 1880.
