Three irregularly shaped pits or hollows are visible on aerial photographs of 1999 and visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013, as earthworks up to circa 15m across distributed over circa 50m of the Steep north-facing slopes overlooking Challon’s Combe Wood, north-east of St Ann’s Chapel, Bigbury.
The pits are interpreted as the remains of extractive pits of post-medieval to 19th century date.
