Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2019-2020, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 2, Avon Valley to Plymouth (AI&M, formerly NMP) (Interpretation). SDV362982.

A bank and ditch are visible as earthworks abutting extant field boundaries on aerial photographs of the 1940s, to the south of Hillhead Barn, Ugborough.
The visible earthworks do not correspond with any boundaries depicted on the Ordnance Survey 1880s 25inch First Edition map but are in keeping with the character of the surrounding field pattern, which has been characterised by HLC as medieval enclosure based on strip fields.
The bank and ditch are interpreted as the remains of former field boundaries of possible medieval origin.
The ditch has probably been destroyed during expansion of the farm complex at Hillhead but the bank remains identifiable as a spread earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013.
