Summary
Linear banks and hollows interpreted as possible evidence of a Roman road are identifiable as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013 and 2019 crossing the slopes of a south-west facing spur to the west of Hartstone Farm, Shaugh Prior.

Full description
South West Heritage Trust, 1838-1848, Digitised Tithe Maps and Transcribed Apportionments (Cartographic). SDV359954.
The visible earthworks do not correspond with any feature depicted on the Tithe Map for Shaugh Prior.
NERC, 2013, LiDAR DTM data (1m resolution) Tellus: South Devon to Dartmoor, LIDAR SX55361 Tellus DTM 01-JUL-2013 to 31-AUG-2013 (Cartographic). SDV361514.
Linear banks and hollows are identifiable as subtle earthworks.
Environment Agency, 2019, National Lidar Programme, LIDAR SX56SW Environment Agency DTM 25-FEB-2019 (Cartographic). SDV363671.
Linear banks and hollows are identifiable as subtle earthworks.
Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2019-2020, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 2, Avon Valley to Plymouth (AI&M, formerly NMP) (Interpretation). SDV362982.
A slight linear bank, possibly flanked by hollows or ditches, is identifiable on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013 and 2019 to the west of Hartstone Farm, Shaugh Prior.
The linear bank appear to measure between 5 to 8m wide and is identifiable as discontinuous earthworks for a length of up to approximately 420m.
The visible earthworks do not correspond with any features depicted on the 19th and early 20th century maps available to the survey.
It has been tentatively suggested by C. Smart that this route might be one followed by a road of Roman date, possibly a continuation of a curvilinear route recorded to the south as MDV128227.
Further assessment of this feature, possibly by geophysical survey, is recommended.
Smart, C., 2020, Lidar Interpretation (Personal Comment). SDV363670.
A slight linear bank might be evidence of a road of Roman. This line is the most obvious for a route south of the moor attempting to get north of Plymouth.
