An irregularly shaped earthwork mound, circa 155m long by 20m wide, is visible on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2019, along the southern edge of the Great Western railway line (MDV22599). The earthwork does not correspond with any features in this location on mapping from the late 19th century onwards. It is interpreted as a spoil heap derived from the excavation and dumping of material from the construction of the railway cutting visible to the immediate north. The railway was opened on the 5th May 1848, so the earthworks predate this time. The earthworks are not visible on other available aerial imagery owing to thick tree cover. Other spoil heaps have been recorded in proximity to the west (MDV128204).
