At least 7 irregularly shaped pits from 5 to 25m across are identifiable on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2019 on the north-east facing combe slopes west of Quarry Farm as earthworks under the tree cover of Stidston's Copse.
The plot in which the pits are located is depicted and recorded as woodland on the Tithe Map and Apportionment for Ugborough, and the pits, which probably originated as extractive pits in the post-medieval period, therefore probably ceased to be used prior to circa 1840.
